Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) 22 photo(s)
The first phase of the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) was started on August 9, 2003. The South Central Railway (SCR) is running close to 30 services a day, connecting Secunderabad and Lingampally on the city outskirts. Its unique feature is the connectivity between rail and road transport for the facility of the commuters. The first phase covers a distance of 43 kms and 26 stations in both the Secunderabad-Lingampally and Hyderabad-Lingampally sections. Most of the MMTS services are spread across 7:30AM - 9:30AM and 4PM - 6:30PM, the peak hours for the traffic. The trains also ply between 5AM and 10:30PM with a reduced frequency. MMTS services were later extended from Secunderabad to Falaknuma. Now, MMTS services are running between Lingampally - Falaknuma and Hyderabad (Nampally) - Falaknuma.The second phase of MMTS is expected to cover Falaknuma - Shamshabad and Secunderabad - Manoharabad. |
